What are the scientific bases underlying dnartistic Artworks?

Our cells are the structural and functional unit of our body. Their nucleus contains DNA which constitutes our genetic information.

Among the various kind of cells in our body, your buccal cells are collected via a buccal swab. The nucleus of these buccal cells also contains DNA which is extracted and purified through powerful molecular biological techniques. This DNA is targeted for specific variable regions, which make you unique.

These specific regions are amplified thanks to a process called PCR (for polymerase chain reaction). They are then loaded into an agarose gel and migrate in function of their molecular weight. The gel is finally visualized under UV light to give rise to our artwork.
